What Are Learning Goals?

In this course, your learning is guided by “I can” statements.

These statements describe what you are learning to do as an artist, collaborator, and thinker.

You are not expected to complete every statement.
Instead, you will:

• Choose goals that match your work

• Show evidence of your learning

• Reflect on your progress

Creating & Making (CP30.1, CP30.3, CP30.4)

These goals focus on developing your ideas, skills, and creative work.

• I can come up with ideas for my own art

• I can try different ways of making art

• I can keep track of my ideas and progress

• I can take risks in my work

• I can learn from mistakes

• I can use my life or surroundings as inspiration

• I can plan and organize my project

• I can reflect and make changes while working

• I can improve my skills over time

• I can create original work on my own

• I can use art to share ideas and feelings

• I can explore different styles to inspire my work

• I can create art about an issue I care about

• I can take risks and improve my work

• I can use feedback to make my work better

• I can express my own ideas through art

• I can think about what I’m trying to say

Collaborating & Sharing (CP30.2)

These goals focus on working with others and presenting your work.

Community & Connection (CP30.5)

These goals focus on understanding art in the real world.

• I can understand what an arts community is

These goals focus on understanding art, issues, and future possibilities.
